Introduction
The Chief Minister's Inspection Team, Punjab, was established in 1960 as the Governor's Inspection Team. Its name has changed with changes in the system of government. Accordingly, it has functioned as the Governor's Inspection Team, the Martial Law Administrator's Inspection Team, and the Chief Minister's Inspection Team. Presently, it is functioning as the Chief Minister's Inspection Team.
The Inspection Team presently consists of a Chairman and seven Members (five General Members and two Engineering Members). The work of the Team has been systematized by allocating different departments, districts, and towns of Lahore City to its Members. Each Member carries out regular monthly inspections in addition to inquiries and investigations entrusted to him through the Chief Minister's directives. Inquiries and investigations conducted by the CMIT are carried out judiciously, promptly, and impartially. Reports are submitted to the Chief Minister along with recommendations for appropriate action.
The hard work and dedication displayed by the Members and their staff in the performance of their assigned duties have consistently met with the complete satisfaction of the Chief Executive. The functions of the CMIT are defined in the Rules of Business, 1974, of the Government of the Punjab. The CMIT acts as the eyes and ears of the Chief Minister/Chief Executive of the Province. The Chief Executive provides inspiration and motivation to the Inspection Team, and its performance has always depended on the Chief Executive's willingness and commitment to utilize its services effectively.
