Overview

Introduction

Chief Minister's Inspection Team, Punjab was established in the year 1960 as Governor's Inspection Team. The name gets changed with the change of the government system. Accordingly, it has functioned as the Governor's Inspection Team, Martial Law Administrator's Inspection Team and Chief Minister's Inspection Team. Presently it is working as Chief Minister's Inspection Team.

The Inspection Team at present consists of a Chairman and Seven Members (Five General Members and two Members Engineering). The working of the team has been systemized by allocating different departments / districts / towns of Lahore City to various members. Each member of the team carries out regular monthly inspections in addition to enquiries / probes entrusted to him through Chief Minister's Directives. Enquiries in CMIT are conducted judiciously, promptly and impartially and reports are submitted to the Chief Minister with recommendations for appropriate action.

The hard work and dedication displayed by the Members and their staff in the accomplishment of the assigned tasks has remained to the entire satisfaction of the Chief Executive. The functions of CMIT are defined in Rules of Business, 1974 of Government of the Punjab. CMIT acts as eyes and ears of the Chief Minister / Chief Executive of the Province. It has been the Chief Executive, who provides the inspiration and motivation to his Inspection Team and its performance has always been dependent on the Chief Executive's eagerness to utilize its services.

Aim and Objective

The aim and objective of the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team is to ensure administration, overview, policy implementation and to take cognizance of the issues of public interest and to assist the Chief Executive in identifying the administrative maladies, and to suggest remedial measures to improve the efficiency of the provincial administration, with the aim of ensuring "Good Governance". In short, CMIT acts as Eyes and Ears of the Chief Minister / Chief Executive of the Province.
